Jeremy Kagan

Jeremy Kagan is an internationally recognized director/writer/producer of feature films and television, and a renowned teacher. Some of his feature credits include the box-office hit HEROES, the political thriller THE BIG FIX, THE CHOSEN from Chaim Potok's classic novel (2 time Grand Prize winner), THE JOURNEY OF NATTY GANN (multiple film festival prizes as best family film) and SHOT about what one bullet does to many lives. Among his many television shows are KATHERINE: The Making of an American Revolutionary, and HBO's CONSPIRACY: THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 8; (Cable ACE Award for Best Dramatic Special). His film ROSWELL: THE UFO CONSPIRACY garnered a Golden Globe nomination. Other television films include, for Showtime COLOR OF JUSTICE about racism, BOBBIE'S GIRL about a lesbian couple, and CROWN HEIGHTS about the 1991 riots in Brooklyn which won the NAACP Outstanding Television Movie Award and the Humanitas Award for “affirming the dignity of every person.” Jeremy has won an EMMY for Dramatic Series Directing and directed episodes of West Wing and Steven Spielberg's Taken. Through his Change Making Media Lab - www.tcmmc.org - he has made films for many NGOs like The Doe Fund, which is the most successful program in America helping the homeless, and Bioneers, which organizes leaders in ecology and other videos on cancer prevention, ADHD, and worldwide medical volunteer efforts.

Professor Kagan teaches graduate courses at the School of Cinematic Arts at USC where he has run the directing program and been the Artistic Director at Robert Redford's Sundance Lab and Chairperson of Special Projects for the Directors Guild 19000 members in charge of educational and cultural events including Meet the Nominees where he has served as moderator with the some of the world's most famous directors. These interviews have generated 3 volumes of DIRECTORS CLOSE UP and his online interactive book KEYS TO DIRECTING has been used in film classes worldwide. He has also authored an illustrated book on his near death experience MY DEATH: A Personal Guidebook

His most recent book GENESIS: A VISUAL VERSION is a collection of his paintings and commentaries on the first book of the Torah, and his paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the country.
